"Roaming Dome" Request Form

The "Roaming Dome" is an inflatable planetarium that can come to your space to be part of your event. We will travel up to 50 miles from NKU. We have programs for all ages and audiences.

Requests must be made at least 3 weeks prior to your desired event date.

The dome may only be set up indoors, on a solid floor, and needs a fairly quiet location with minimum background noise. We need access to a three prong electrical outlet. The footprint is 20'x25' and needs at least a 12' ceiling. The portal dome holds roughly 45 kids in 2nd grade or roughly 35 adults at one time. 

Programming can be customized for your needs, but most events will have 15 or 25 minute rotations with a 5 minute break in between each rotation. You can view programs from our regular selection at https://inside.nku.edu/artsci/departments/pget/planetarium/school.html and we can also do constellation tours. We need at least 30 minutes for set up before the event starts and 30 minutes for tear down after the last program.    

Rates:
$50 per hour for NKU Groups (if the event is on campus)
$100 per hour + mileage for school and educational groups (2 hour minimum)
$200 per hour + mileage for entertainment/special events (3 hour minimum)
There is also an additional mileage fee, based on your distance from Northern Kentucky University (roughly $7 per every 5 miles, up to 50 miles)

Submitting this form DOES NOT confirm your reservation, it triggers the staff to contact you about your request. Portable reservations are at the discretion of the NKU Haile Planetarium staff and we have the right to deny requests for any reason. You will be contacted within 1 week of your request to confirm or deny your program and/or to work out specific details. Payment or payment arrangements are required BEFORE the event.
